A wild winter swan : a novel / Gregory Maguire.

Maguire, Gregory, (author.).

Summary:

Laura lives on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in an aging brownstone with her old-world grandparents. But the arrangement may be temporary, Laura is on the verge of being sent to a boarding school in Montreal in the new year after being expelled from school for behavior unbecoming of a young lady. Constantly in her own head, telling herself stories about the events surrounding her to divert herself from the miseries of her own life, Laura truly finds herself inside a fairy tale when a handsome boy with a swan wing in place of a left arm lands on her roof. She tries to find a way to get the boy home while keeping him hidden from her grandparents as they work to secure an investor in their struggling family store. But the task is too difficult to accomplish by herself and Laura must forge unlikely allies in her quest to keep this storybook character from overturning her life in all the wrong ways.
